4pm | Indian Classical Workshop with Monika Khot
Artist Monika Khot (Nordra) will teach a basic overview of singing technique from the lineage of Dhrupad, said to be the most ancient form of singing associated with Hindustani music. The workshop will lean towards how to practice vocals in the deepest way possible and the techniques for practicing them.
From the artist: "There is a path for an incredibly effective transformation of vocal ability and self-groundedness with a consistent Indian classical practice. The main difference between Dhrupad and other classical singing schools is that a philosophy of sound is used as a constant pillar you constantly turn your practice towards."
Come learn more about this incredibly deep and spiritual practice of singing! Listen to an example of Dhrupad below from artist Pelva Naik.

6pm | Leanna Keith with Steve Fisk
Flutist Leanna Keith and audio wizard Steve Fisk join forces for a special, extended-play performance of Armenian-American composer Eve Beglarian's I Will Not Be Sad in This World. This uniquely beautiful work for alto flute is based on Armenian troubadour Sayat Nova’s song Ashkharumes Akh Chim Kashil.
8pm | Nordra
Nordra is an electronic music producer and electroacoustic composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer. She hails from Virginia USA, is based in London/New York, and is ancestrally from the Karnataka state of India. She creates her futuristic pop using an intense mix of noise, electronic beats, ethereal vocals, and various live instruments. Nordra's sound evokes the fate and terror of metal without the traditional instrumentation of a metal band.
As a film and dance composer, Nordra’s sound world is cinematic and her creations are heavily driven by mental states that face fear, torment, hope and despair. In addition to her solo project, Nordra can be found as a touring multi-instrumentalist with Daughters, Zola Jesus, Marissa Nadler, Cassandra Jenkins, and more.
